This year, I made a resolution to start applying for grants, supports, and memberships to explore the opportunities they offer. There are so many available, ranging from free mentorship programs to grants varying from £100 to £100k. My focus centered on areas related to my work in photography and digital creation, which led me to discover Wandsworth ReCreate 2023. Growing up in Battersea instilled in me a strong desire to engage with my community. I am thrilled and grateful to have been selected for this incredible opportunity.
Creative United, in collaboration with Wandsworth Council, has launched the second edition of their free Re:Create business support programme. This initiative is designed for creative freelancers, artists, makers, and entrepreneurs in Wandsworth. Building on the success of the previous edition, Re:Create 2023 offers participants access to free business support, aiming to help their creative businesses flourish and become resilient for the future.
I am proud to be one of the 50 artists selected for this program, receiving business mentoring and having free access to a suite of specially created e-learning resources.
The course has been intriguing so far, offering guidance that I plan to apply to my businesses. Although I generally prefer face-to-face learning, this course is structured simply enough for anyone to follow and gain valuable information. It includes training videos, downloadable resources, and quick quizzes on marketing, e-commerce, fundraising, business planning, and networking. It also facilitates becoming part of a growing network of creatives in the Wandsworth area.
This marks just the beginning of my journey as a business owner.
